Are you ready for Independence Day this year? Do you dream about cruising on the most popular boating weekends of the year? That dream can be a reality for boat owners this year and future boat owners soon! With every town and city organizing family events, fireworks, and parades we know choosing where to spend the 4th of July weekend can be difficult. We have compiled a list of amazing destinations that will make your holiday weekend unforgettable.
1. New York, NY
If you’re a fan of firework displays (Who isn’t?) New York is the place to be this year! While cruising, you will not only get amazing seats to the firework display but, you will get a stunning view of the NYC Skyline and the sun setting behind the Statue of Liberty.
Post-pandemic, America’s biggest Independence Day celebration is back! Live from New York City the 45th Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks will ignite the night. On July 4th at 9:25 p.m., Macy’s will commence a jaw dropping pyrotechnic salute to American bravery and optimism in an incomparable barrage of color, light, shape, and sound. This year’s Macy’s Fireworks show will launch more than 65’000 shells and effects from five barges positioned on the East River centered in Midtown. The display will delight New York City spectators and a nationwide television audience.
2. Miami, Florida
Why watch fireworks on land when you can appreciate them from the water? South Floridians have plenty of options when it comes to boat-friendly places for watching fireworks. The Fire on the Fourth Festival, over the Atlantic Ocean in North Miami Beach is very popular. Other big 4th of July events happening in Miami this year include the 18th Annual Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks Show, Ocean Drive Independence Day Celebration Concert, and Key Biscayne’s 4th of July Parade.
3. Boston, Massachusetts
The world famous Boston Pops holds free concerts on July 3rd and 4th, followed by the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular at 10:30 p.m. on the 4th. All take place on the Esplanade alongside the Charles River. For a complete list with events that will celebrate the national day, visit Boston.com and mark your calendars! Be there to enjoy the partying, racing, and fun for July Fourth.
4. Marina del Rey, CA
If you are around Los Angeles or just a day away, don’t miss out on Marina del Rey’s celebration! The fireworks display will be launched from a barge off the Marina’s South Jetty at 9:00 p.m.
- Viewing areas include:
- - Burton Chace Park: 13650 Mindanao Way
- - Fisherman’s Village: 13755 Fiji Way
Check out Marina del Rey for harborside dinner and parking tips. Fireworks are visible from Dockweiler Beach, Playa Vista, and Venice Pier.
5. Washington, D.C.
This year the iconic show, which promises to be bigger and longer, takes place from West Potomac Park, rather than the Washington Monument. That’s great news or boaters. Take your fireworks viewing to the next level while enjoying the good company on your boat. Create memories while seeing the Independence Day fireworks against DC’s skyline of monuments and memorials.
Tips for the Best Experience
We all need some fun in our lives, so let’s plan as well as we can to have the best experience possible.
So, don’t forget to:
- - Display the red, white, and blue onboard! It’s a national celebration after all!
- - Use your decorating skills to earn some recognition from the coastal communities around the country that are hosting patriotic-themed boat parades.
- - Bring your cameras to catch the fireworks – you’ll want to remember the experience forever.
- - Plan a traditional meal to celebrate the day. Cookouts on the water are so much fun!
- - Plan your outfits around red, white, and blue. Show respect for each detail you put together for this holiday.
And for the last bit of good news, because of the unused fireworks from last year’s canceled events, many city officials have indicated this year’s show will be even bigger and better! So, don’t miss the fun that this 4th of July might bring into your life.
