- Located in: Brooklin, Maine, United States
Promise is hull #82 of the Bridges Point 24’s and as such is the very last boat to have been produced in Wade Dow and the Bridges Point Boat Yard.
Promise is a one-owner boat that has been used for day sailing only and has never strayed much more than a few miles east or west of her mooring in Great Cove by the Wooden Boat School during the summer months and returned each fall to her birthplace of Bridges Point Boat Yard to be cared for by her original builder.
Promise as designed by Joel White is the day sailor version of the Bridges Point 24 with the distinctive Herreshoff-style cabin profile as can be seen on many of the Herreshoff day sailor designs like the Fish class, Alerion and Buzzards Bay 25’s. This version makes for a slightly longer cockpit allowing more family and / or friends to come along and enjoy the day.
Promise has been very lightly used. Her sails (while being original) look, feel and set like new canvas and her engine (while not having an hour meter) is estimated by owner and builder as having less than 50 hours use. This light usage and excellent care is evident pretty much everywhere one looks aboard Promise making her very desirable (and a must-see) for any sailors looking for a nice simple, classic day sailor.
