36,000 BTU reverse-cycle air conditioning system installed in saloon, with split evaporators, and ducting to each aft stateroom. Currently wired to run off generator only.
Large number of deck hatches and portholes ensure ample ventilation in all areas of the vessel.
Galley
The galley is spacious, with ample storage, propane stove top, and an oven. It’s set up for electric cooking and comes with an above-stove microwave oven and single induction cooktop. Electric toaster oven can be included.
Fully equipped with pots, pans, glasses, mugs, dishes, and silverware.
Deck & Equipment
Port and starboard large forward deck lockers each contain a fuel tank, electric control systems, and ample mostly dry storage space. Center forward deck locker houses windlass, chain, and other ground tackle equipment.
New Lewmar V5 stainless windlass installed in 2021, together with Spade S140 anchor, mounted at anchor roller at forward end of catwalk, and almost 300 feet of Ketten Wälder Super Duplex stainless chain.
Forward in each hull, accessible through a deck hatch, are stateroom-sized dry storage lockers, with watertight bulkeads separating them from the rest of the hull. Port locker houses desalination system, with plenty of spare parts, fishing equipment, etc. Starboard locker houses all sails and most of the running rigging spares, as well as sea anchor.
Built new catwalk in 2022, with stainless eyebolts for trampoline. Replaced trampoline lacing with AmSteel Dyneema 4mm.
Two aft deck lockers (behind cockpit) for whatever can be stored in wet conditions.
Huge propane locker, also used for paints, resins, solvents, engine oil, and spare drums of line, is under seat in aft cockpit. Storage area under cockpit hatches houses four additional fuel tanks, as well as ample storage for equipment that can handle semi-dry conditions.
Large aft deck hatches give access to “garages”, which again give access to engine compartments and tail storage areas. Tail areas contain exhaust systems and various electric, refrigeration and electronic equipment. Generator is in starboard garage, whereas the port garage contains all maintenance and spare parts for engines.
Electronics & Navigation
Main navigation system is Windows-based industrial 12V computer, running OpenCPN, with dual 21.5" touchscreens. Data collection from Signal K server, with feeds from NMEA 2000 bus, Victron system, and custom monitoring systems. World chart package, plus separate Mexico chart subscription.
Simrad HALO20+ network-connected radar, with dual-range feeds to nav computer, as separate and/or chart overlay.
NMEA 2000 system consisting of Simrad NAC-3 navigation computer, Simrad OP12, AP44, and WR10 + BT-1 (handheld wireless) autopilot controller, Simrad Precision-9 compass, Simrad NAC-3 rudder feedback, and two each of Simrad IS42 and B&G Triton MFDs (outside helm), Garmin GPS19x, Airmar DT800 depth transducer, Maretron WSO100 ultrasonic wind transducer, and AMEC Widelink B600 AIS transponder.
Secondary chart plotters on Android (Navionics, with Mexico charts) and iPad (Navionics and iSailor). Virtual instrument panels on any networked device, via HTML, as well as WilhelmSK on iPad.
Wireless network throughout, with Starlink system ready to be re-engaged.
Electrical, Power & Plumbing
15.5 kWh LiFePO4 battery bank, consisting of 20 (4S5P) CALB L173F230B prismatic cells, mounted in power alcove behind saloon cabinets. Three Victron Phoenix Compact 1600 240 VAC inverters, running in parallel, connected via solid copper busbars. Dual auto-transformers convert 240V into split-phase 120V, allowing systems powered by either voltage.
Batteries charged via 12x100W Lensun semi-flexible panels mounted on coach roof. Smart, hands-off charging system.
The Lugger-powered Northern Lights 12kW generator received a new stainless mixer elbow (less than 25 running hours). It supplies both 240V and split-phase 120V.
As this was engineered to be a self-sufficient offshore cruiser, there is no shore power connection.
Engine & Mechanical
Replaced turbos on both engines in late 2017 (less than 200 hours ago). Installed new 316 stainless mixer elbows at the same time. Exhaust system was redesigned in 2021, with new hoses and elbows. Stainless mufflers pressure tested, epoxy coated inside, and polished.
24" MaxProp feathering propellers (83mm Classic). All anodes changed to aluminum (shaft, prop, strut). 40mm stainless shafts, with PSS dripless seals.
Parts inventory intended to cover all standard maintenance for at least 10 years, as well as for handling several unexpected scenarios.
Sails & Rigging
Aquavit has a fractional Solent rig, with multiple diamond stays, swept-back shrouds, dual forestays, and no backstay. The mast is 21.6 meters (71 feet) tall, reaching 23.8 meter (78 feet) above water (not counting masthead VHF antenna).
The mainsail is a massively constructed, moderate roach, fully battened Dacron sail, with an area of more than 83 square meters (900 square feet), and three reefing points. Presumed to be original, it is in excellent condition. The batten car system is a Frederiksen/Ronstan Series 22 captive ball bearing. The mainsheet traveler is Lewmar Ocean, size 3, with three stand-up blocks on the car, and a 5-to-1 control line exchange.
The working jib (inner stay) is self-tacking, mounted on a ProFurl NI 52E. The jib traveler and car are Lewmar Ocean, size 2. There are currently three jib sails in the inventory, all in excellent condition.
The outer stay has a ProFurl LCI 42E furler. Genoa travelers are Lewmar Ocean, size 3 (one per hull). There is no genoa in the sail inventory.
There are also three spinnakers in the inventory, one symmetric and two asymmetric. All are equipped with dousing chutes.
There are seven Lewmar Ocean self-tailing winches for line handling: An electric 48ST on the foredeck, primarily for the main halyard; an electric 58ST on each side of the cockpit, together with a manual 48ST; one 48ST and two 44ST on the mast, for other halyards and reefing.
Standing rigging was replaced in 2008, and is in excellent condition (microscopic scanning of swages show no sign of distress or corrosion).
Running rigging is in good condition, and new halyards are on the boat, ready to be installed by new owner. Several 600’ spools of various line, polyester and nylon, twisted and double-braid) are available for other rigging uses.
Additional Information
Dual circuit (P+S) freshwater systems, each with Whale Watermaster FW1215 self-regulating pumps and pressure tanks. Electric water heater (engine heat exchanger removed) in each hull (Isotemp Regular 30 stbd, and Basic 75 port).
Raritan toilets rebuilt to Atlantes A512 (Vortex-Vac) in Nov 2019 (stbd), and Jul 2024 (port).
